Her new do

When Sarah was getting her hair trimmed, Miss Chris pulled a bit up in a clip and it looked so cute...so we made a big deal about it. Sarah has NEVER and I repeat NEVER let me do anything with her hair besides wash and brush it, so this was a big deal. The day after her "trim" she let me pull her hair up for school.
She was actually excited about it!!
and I was thrilled that she let me do it. The clip survived most of the day, and she has let me pull it up twice since then. Progress, slowly, but it is still progress.
Isn't she just beautiful with it pulled back? I think it accentuates her facial features that are usually hidden behind her hair.

haircuts

I recently took the girls for a trim...I think Sarah was a bit past due!
Do you think her bangs were long enough?
Mary's weren't quite as bad, but they were getting there. She hates having her hair that close to her eyes.

And I was really slacking this particular day...I didn't take any "after" pictures...just the before ones. They weren't drastic cuts, so it wasn't too big a deal; just trims.

Stocking Stuffers

Mom shipped a box full of stocking stuffers for the girls. She didn't make them wait; she let them open them the first night she was here.

(new socks)
a new watch
a dish set with their initials on it
and an overview of their gifts

Christmas Dinner

Mom cooked us a wonderful Christmas dinner with all the fixings while she was here.
Sarah was going through an eating strike, so she just picked at her food.
Mary, on the other hand was going through a growth spurt, so she kept eating. She drank from her "new" cup to wash it all down.
After the meal, mom entertained the girls while I cleaned up the kitchen. Here, they are looking at the photo stand we got her full of pictures of the girls.
