Election day HUMOR

Sunday evening we were at the house, and Tiffany...a teen from the church came over to entertain the girls.

We were sitting in the dining room just visiting and watching the girls play when the phone rang. I jokingly said when I saw it was an 866# "I wander if this is Barack or John?" Mary said, "well whoever it is I want to talk to them!"I answered and it was John McCain. So I passed the phone on to Mary...notice her excitement of thinking she actually got to talk to one of them.

She got on, and I have to say I lost control laughing so hard. She was yelling, "John!..is this you John?? What do you want? HELLO...John, this is MARY! HELLO!! What do you want???"

Now she is waiting for Orock Obama, as she calls him, to call.

Pie Baking AGAIN

I mentioned in the last blog about all the pies I made for the election day bazaar. My 2 apples and 1 peach were my pride and joy...I am pretty proud of myself...especially since I never thought I...Emily...would ever make my own pies. I am so proud of them because they were pretty...I guess they tasted OK too, since I don't have any left. I got this really cool thing that cutes pie crust into a pretty pattern. It has the heart pattern on one side, and the lattice pattern on the other. (this was my apple...one of them)

Here is my peach...and no I am not THAT good...these are not homemade crust. I still have to use Pillsbury. Hey you can't expect perfection from the get-go.

Another Busy Day

It has been another busy day, so I figured I would give a quick update and then head upstairs to watch the Steeler's game. Jude is safely in New Orleans on a mission trip. If I remember correctly, they are laying laminate flooring...they are in a house that is almost ready to live in, so that just shows the progress that the many mission trips are achieving. Praise be to God!
The girls and I started the day at the church, making soup for the election day bazaar we will be having tomorrow. Then Mary had school...another good day for...she learned how to write a "Q" today. Before you know it she will be mailing out letters. Sarah and I ran some errands while Mary was at school...or I should say Sarah slept while I ran some errands. :) This evening I had to bake more pies...I am becoming a pro. I baked 2 apple, 1 peach and made 2 chocolate cheesecakes. Hopefully they all taste as well as they look. (pictures will get posted maybe tomorrow) We will find out tomorrow.
The girls are upstairs watching the end of Incredibles (a Disney movie), but I am guessing they are both sound asleep...as it has been a long day for them too. I best go check on them, and turn the game on, tomorrow morning comes quickly. We will be at the church all day for the bazaar, and then I have bowling in the evening.
No rest for the weary. :)

Game Night

Last night we had a family game night...it was the last night before Jude left for his Mission Trip to New Orleans. I wanted him to spend some time with the girls before he left...and having a game night was the best plan...(Daddy came up with the idea). It let them spend time with him, and was something we all enjoy doing together...the best of both worlds!The game we LOVE to play is Disney Scene It? It is a board game, but uses a DVD also. So there are questions on cards, as well as video clips and questions you have to answer. Being Disney-a-holics..it is perfect for us.

Here is another shot of the girls posing...Daddy sets up his large screen and we use his projector for the video clips. It takes up half of our living room, but is pretty cool. The girls absolutely love it...they don't want to play if it isn't on the "Big" screen.

One last Halloween post...

I really wanted to get a "good" picture of our porch decorated for Halloween/Fall, so the other night...before I blew out our jack-o-lantern candles for the night...I took some shots. The Mickey banner in the background says "Happy Halloween, and then of course our pumpkins are Mickey and Minnie. We have other small pumpkins spread around the ledge and steps of the porch...compliments of the girls, but I didn't get a picture of them...Maybe when I change things up a little so they can stay out through Thanksgiving...I might take another picture. But Mickey and Minnie are going Bye-Bye.

I loved how this picture of Mickey came out so clear. I just turned out the light on my porch and zoomed in on him. He is my favorite pumpkin I have ever carved...at least the most clear.

I like Minnie too, but she never showed quite as clear as Mickey. I just noticed the focus is a bit fuzzy in this one...just like the last one.

I need to start thinking about ideas for next years pumpkins...

An afternoon off...

This past Friday, Jude had some spare time in the late afternoon. He decided he wanted to go golfing, since the weather was SO NICE. He figured it would probably be his last trip golfing for this year. Anyhow, I decided I wanted to go along with him, so we got Joyce to watch the girls, and he and I went golfing together. This one place is very reasonable, and like Jude said "where can you go for an afternoon of entertainment for less than $15.00?" It turned out to be well worth it.Here is the sign from the place where we golfed at...it is located off of Route 422, near Penn Run.

Jude was getting his clubs out, and getting ready to get started. I don't have clubs...so we just shared his.It was a beautiful day...although there were quite a few leaves on the ground...making it hard to find your ball once in a while.

I know nothing about golfing, and probably had horrible form...but I had fun. I decided I am good at the long shots...but get me close and I do horrible.

The best part was just being able to have a "date" if you want to call it that. With our schedules, this doesn't happen very often.

Candy anybody???

This past week we went trick or treating. It was a busy week as I have a lot of family that "expects" to see the girls...and I hear about it if they don't. So I found two afternoon/evenings that I could take them out and about, and here is what we got...

Can you imagine...this is an entire laundry basket full...luckily there are a few things other than candy...thanks Grandma and Pap... but there is still plenty candy for anyone.

The girls couldn't believe when I dumped their pumpkins and bags into this basket...a bit overwhelming if you ask me. I don't mind taking them around...I just wish they would give 1 thing instead of multiple treats. Don't get me wrong...we are very thankful...and the candy won't go to waste. I am planning on letting the girls pick out a decent amount to keep and the rest we will share with people at our monthly food distribution...I imagine it would be a special treat for many of them.
