Today we made little trees out of sugar cookies. (you may have seen our Christmas one we made in December) Although we changed it up a little for this, we used heart shaped cookie cutters. Joyce, Nancy and Kym helped me bake the cookies this morning, and then this afternoon I went to Kym's house for her help in icing the "trees" (we made these two trees for decorating tonight, plus 8 others to be used at a little Valentines get-together we will be attending tomorrow)
Casidhe and Sarah enjoyed decorating this tree. This is a craft, although fully edible, it makes a nice table decoration. You make sugar cookies, use royal icing as "glue" to stack them in the shape of a tree, then you decorate them with various candies. For this one we are using red, pink and white candies. Then let everything dry and it hardens...this would be a craft comparable to a gingerbread house. Cory enjoyed the candy...and loading his tree with it. Willy Wonka would have been proud!
Mary helped Cory a little, but she seemed to enjoy tasting the candy more than anything. Here she was snitching a piece.
